The people of Hometraditions

Hometraditions
was showcased in an
1875 house sitting just on the edge of the downtown business district of Findlay Ohio.

Restoration was done on this "farm" house that was built before many of the downtown buildings. The house has good "bones" although it needed all new electrical and plumbing. Some newer walls were removed to return it to it's original design, and crumbling plaster replaced.

We were lucky to have a great building to start out with. The oak and ash floors were scrubbed and polished. The walls were faux painted using paint, glaze and a terry cloth towel. Hmmm...same room.
The camera shows it in
a different color.
Along with antiques, we offer wicker and wire furniture, lamps, pictures and accessories.
I tend to lean toward the Victorian/Traditional/Historical style with accessories.
This great old counter came from a general store in NW Ohio. It is pine with beadboard siding.
This room is set up as the dining room. The table is set with blue & white chintz and
open-work china, and 18th century (reproduction) silverware. I wanted the atmosphere of a 'home' with out display units.
The Christmas room is  entered through french doors found in the basement during restoration. We couldn't resist putting them back up!
We created this room in June.  If you're going to do Christmas in June, you'd better be serious about it. The themed trees are filled with ornaments from Old World Christmas, Christopher Radko, Midwest of Cannon Falls and Bavarian Heritage...so far. This barrister book case is filled with Staffordshire chintz ware, and Ino Schaller Santa candy containers.
The walls in this room were faux painted too. The floors are ash in this room.
I love to showcase artist pieces. Shown here is the Santa-Sampler line by Diane Cheffy. She collects antique candy molds and puts them to good use casting her santas. Creating them from start to finish, she is meticulous with the detail and special touches. Each piece is named, numbered, dated and signed by Diane.
The shop was filled (two floors) with furniture and home accessories, handpicked for the Traditional/Victorian and Shabby Chic home.

UPDATE
:Due to a job transfer, we have closed the shop, however items from Hometraditions are still available from the website
