BACKGROUND
The seed of inspiration for the development of Christmas Classics’ THE MILLENNIA COLLECTION: Glorious Christmas Music, Songs, and Carols was planted when Ron Clancy heard a choir of nuns sing beautiful Christmas carols during his first Midnight Mass at St. John’s Orphanage in Philadelphia. Ron’s love for Christmas music grew over the years as he built a sizeable music library. By the late 1980s he was compiling classic Christmas music collections and giving them to family and friends as holiday gifts. Intrigued by his unusual offerings, each accompanied by a small directory with bits of information about each carol or music title, e.g., "Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly" read . . . "Anonymous 16th century Welsh carol," Ron’s friends encouraged him to pursue his dream to produce the ultimate Christmas music collection. That goal was to fuse great art and music in attractive and lavishly illustrated boxed sets. This he did, but only after years of research and when no publisher willing to risk taking on his “overly ambitious project.” In the year 2000 Ron finally took the plunge and published “Best-Loved Christmas Carols,” the first volume of the series. A year later “American Christmas Classics” was successfully launched. The story of Ron’s efforts to create imaginative Christmas music collections has been covered in newspapers across the country. Ron has also appeared on numerous radio shows and television programs, including QVC, EWTN Cable Network’s Bookmark, the PBS Religious and Ethics Newsweekly, New York’s The God Squad, and Comcast’s Real Life with Mary Amoroso.
