Red Glass Bottle with Carved Design Valentine

Alternative Views:

This lovely, translucent glass bottle with a carved design, cream-colored ribbon, and a reproduced, downsized image of an antique postcard will add a burst of bright color and a Victorian touch to any decor. Display it as is an objet d'art in its own right. Or as a gift for your sweetheart --add a real or artificial red rose for love and romance or a white rose to symbolize the pureness of a new love.

Bottle measures about 6½” tall x 2" diameter with a 9/16" mouth opening. -- For decoration use only.

It is the nature of glass to have slight imperfections...we like it to say it adds character!

ABOUT THE ARTIST
  • Born a hundred years too late, Diane Cheffy lives and breathes Victorian! Life in a historic ca. 1900 Classic Cottage style house in Colorado Springs, Colorado for the past 19 years has become more of a hodgepodge cottage of Victoriana --antique and holiday potpourri. This miscellany has also been reflected in her work. She has been a contributor to “Highlights for Children”, “Highlights Puzzlemania”, and “Delta Airlines Fantastic Flyer.” She also writes articles as the “Colorado Springs Landmarks & Historic Districts Examiner” on Examiner.com.
  • Victorians would save postcards, greeting cards, and advertising trade cards –these prized lithograph images are what make the old scrapbooks so valuable today. Diane at Hodgepodge Cottage uses and shares these same reproduced images in many of her projects; Victorian-style wooden puzzle blocks, holiday tree ornaments, magnets, candy sleighs, and gift boxes!
  • To a “hodgepodger,” anything from juice can lids to cappuchino containers can be repurposed to create something new and different.
  • Passionate about Christmas –Santa in particular, Diane found her true niche in creating chalkware from antique chocolate molds. Each piece is uniquely hand-painted, dated, signed and numbered. Several pieces of her artwork were featured in Wendy Mullen’s 2005 book, “The Comprehensive Guide to Chocolate Molds: Objects of Art & Artists' Tools.”
