A Vintage Kitchen Cupboard (decorated with Seasons of Cannon Falls kitchen ornaments)
This photo was submited by Brita Barlow, Jamestown, NY (Satisfied Customer) (Thank you Brita!)
1920's Kitchen Hooser Cupboard decorated with vintage kitchen ornaments.
Some history of the cupboard:
A Hoosier - Circa 1924.
This cupboard had been sold to a neighbor in the early 1970's
when my great grandmother's estate was liquidated. She stripped the base,
and I assume it was maple, definitely not oak, anyway, it was UGLY wood
with no grain. She obviously lost interest at that point, and stopped stripping.
They moved some years later, and she gave it back to my mother.
I had never seen it in one piece and was not interested. My mother talked
me into taking it three years ago. When I began researching it, I was
hooked. I took a door in to the paint store to have the color duplicated.
I traced the stencils, and put the pile of parts back together again. The
canisters were family items, as was the butter churn. I have collected any
kitchen item I can prove was from that era, and available here in town. I try to
take my time so I won't run out of fun all at once. Did you notice the full size
potato masher on the table top is identical to the green masher ornament?
